Oswestry alleyways to be given new look
Four historic alleyways are to be looked at, as part of the new High Street Heritage Action Zone Project in Oswestry.
The project is a partnership between Shropshire Council, Oswestry Town Council and Oswestry ‘s Business Improvement District.
The action zone is looking at ways to regenerate the town through heritage, and it has been recognised that the alleyways play an important part in the history of the town, reflecting the medieval layout of the town, providing links between streets.
Those involved are currently putting together a brief for suitably qualified people to look at the conditions of the alleyways, and come up with designs on how to approve them and make them more appealing to use.
As part of the work, users will have the opportunity to provide feedback and decide which design to take forward.
Samantha Jones, project officer, said: “The action zone project is a wonderful opportunity for Oswestry, thanks to the funding from Historic England and Oswestry Town Council.”
