Sally Rogers, from Oswestry, held her first fundraiser after husband, Stuart, was diagnosed with Lymphatic Cancer to, she said, give a bit back for all the treatment and help they were given.

Two decades later she says March 9 will bring an end to the events.

The charity ball, based on Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, will raise money for Hope House Children’s Hospice in Oswestry.

The evening, at the Park Hall Pavilion on the edge of the town, will include a live band, three course meal, raffle, and an auction.

Chocolate

"Because of the theme there will of course be plenty of chocolate," Mrs Rogers said.

She said after her first event she went on to organise one or two charity balls a year raising funds for various local charities.

"Around 2011 with work and family commitments I stopped," she said.

"Next year will be the 20th anniversary of my first event, my husband is fighting fit so I have decided to hold my last Black Tie Charity Ball. Hope House is a local charity close to my heart. I worked there for five year’s as a fundraiser and saw the wonderful work the staff did."

Tickets for the event, priced £45, are available from Lawrence Direct.
