A Skoda Yeti car stolen in Llangollen last week reversed into the shutters of the store on Holyhead Road just before 2.30am today.

Three suspects got out of the vehicle and went into the store but left soon afterwards.

Police said it is so far unclear if anything was stolen.

Inspector Steve Owens said: “The offenders used a vehicle that had been stolen in Llangollen on July 18.

"They left the scene within minutes and headed towards Llangollen.

"The scene is now being managed by officers and crime scene investigators have attended."

Police forensic teams were at the supermarket on Holyhead Road in the town this morning and officers are also believed to be studying local CCTV camera footage.

There is extensive damage to the roller shutters at the front of the shop.

Staff standing outside the store today waiting for police to finish their initial investigation did not want to comment.

Security lock experts were also on standby to mend the broken shutters and smashed window.

Local onlookers, who did not want to be named, said they had heard nothing out of the ordinary.

"Vehicles drive past here at ridiculous speeds at night, you get used to it,"one woman said.
