Girl, 11, hit by car outside Market Drayton school

An 11-year-old girl suffered head injuries when she was hit by a car outside a school in Market Drayton today.

Emergency services were called to Grove School in Market Drayton just after 8.30am to reports of an 11-year-old girl who had been in collision with a car.

Murray MacGregor, communications director for West Midlands Ambulance Service, said: "We were called at 8.30am this morning to reports of an 11-year-old girl in collision with a car.

"She was treated for a minor head injury and was discharged at the scene."

A spokeswoman for Grove School said: "We can confirm there was an incident involving a student being injured by a vehicle this morning before the start of school.

"Thankfully the young lady involved suffered no serious injuries and is back in school after receiving treatment."
