Town councillors object to housing plans
Campaigners fighting to save a much-loved green space from being developed for housing have been given another boost after town councillors voted to object to the plans.
In 1245 King Henry III granted a charter for a weekly Wednesday market, giving Market Drayton its current name. The market is still held every Wednesday and attracts residents from all over Shropshire. The town is also home to Muller dairy and sausage maker Palethorpe's bakery.
