Welcome to this week's selection of nostalgia photos from the pages of the Shropshire Star.

"Oswestry Orthopaedic Hospital" is written in pencil on the back of this postcard from the collection of Bridgnorth postcard collector Ray Farlow. Also in different hand in ink is written the name "Budd." Those are the only clues we've got, as it was not franked or messaged, but we'll take a guess that it dates from around the early 1930s. Of course if you know better, do let us know.

The Ketley Dingle interchange takes shape in October 1974. It was being built on the M54, which was also being built, and was at the time dubbed the Wellington bypass – it was at the time only a relatively short stretch of motorway which was not connected to the national motorway network until 1983.

Got your knitting? This workers' meeting by around 300 staff at the Clifford Williams clothing factory in Oswestry on October 13, 1982, was in advance of some unusual industrial action. The following day the women workers took in their knitting to the Oswestry plant, and several other of the firm's factories, in a "knit-in" and refused to budge until the company agreed to give them a fair rate for their work.

Thank you to Dennis Gardner of Ketley Bank for the loan of this photo which he tells us shows the cast of the play Journey's End, performed in 1946 by men from the Catholic Church in Newport to mark the end of the war. "The only actors I know are my father, Herbert Gardner, second from the right on the front row, and on his left is his brother Pat Gardner. Sadly my father passed away that year. Maybe someone will know the other actors."

The annual camp of 2nd Oakengates Boys' Brigade, which was a joint camp with Clacton Boys' Brigade, at Sheringham, Norfolk, in 1959. These are the leaders, with an Elcock's coach in the background. Back, from left: Geoff Jones, Les Saunders, Jack Jones, Norman Jones (coach driver), Mrs Leighton (from Clacton), Doris Davies, Enid Jones, Wilf Davies. Front, first two unknown from Clacton, with grey hair is John Irving who used to be the youth leader in Oakengates and founded Oakengates Youth Club before the war, next two unknown from Clacton, Marjorie Saunders, Lily Jones, Gwen Tanner, and Harold Tanner (captain of Oakengates BB).
