Two more Covid-19 deaths confirmed at county's hospitals

Two more coronavirus deaths have been confirmed at the county's main hospitals.

The patients were being cared for by Shrewsbury and Telford Hospitals Trust (SaTH).

One died on New Year's Eve and the other on New Year's Day.

The latest figures released by NHS England take the total number of deaths at Shropshire’s two main hospitals, Royal Shrewsbury Hospital and Princess Royal Hospital in Telford, to 295.

In addition, five people have died at the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital near Oswestry and 19 have died at the Shropshire Community Health Trust.

Another 188 people have died with Covid-19 in care homes in the county since the pandemic began, with 134 of these in the Shropshire Council area and 54 in the Telford & Wrekin borough.

There have been 140 deaths involving coronavirus in Powys, according to the Office for National Statistics.
