Briefing will give update on plans for Shropshire's maternity services
Potential locations for a series of maternity hubs across the county will be discussed during an event next week.
Maternity services in Shropshire could be overhauled under proposals from Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin Clinical Commissioning Groups.
Plans have been put forward to end births at the rural midwife-led units (MLUs) in Oswestry, Ludlow and Bridgnorth and create a number of maternity hubs to support women before and after birth.
They are yet to go out to public consultation but the CCGs are inviting mothers and fathers who have recently used maternity services, along with professionals involved in maternity care, to a briefing on Wednesday.
Review
The CCGs will provide an update on the progress of the MLU review and the proposed new service model.
People are being invited to share their views on the plans next week ahead of a public consultation.
For the first time, health bosses will be sharing data from Public Health England which the CCGs say will inform their understanding of where the maternity hubs should be.
Dr Jessica Sokolov, deputy clinical chair at Shropshire CCG, said: “Before we move to formal consultation, the stakeholder briefing is an opportunity for both mums, dads and professionals to be updated on the model, be presented, for the first time, data from Public Health England which informs the location of the proposed maternity hubs and will discuss how we will consult.
"No decision on the location of the hubs has been made yet.
Hubs
"At the stakeholder briefing we will presenting the public health data that informs our understanding of where the hubs should be, but we are looking for feedback on this as part of the consultation process."
The briefing will take place at Bradbury Hall, Trinity Centre, Meole Brace, Shrewsbury, on Wednesday from 10am to 1pm.
Dr Sokolov said: “It will be an interactive event with lots of opportunity for questions and discussion. We welcome those who have recent experience of maternity services, and professionals who are currently involved in maternity care, to attend this important session."
There is limited capacity.
Following the event a light lunch will be provided and babies are welcome.
