More than 13,000 take part in Future Fit talks
More than 13,000 surveys have now been filled in by people leaving feedback on the Future Fit proposals.
Future Fit programme director Debbie Vogler updated the Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust board on the ongoing public consultation.
She said more than 800 people have now attended public exhibition events, which have given people the opportunity to speak to clinicians directly about the proposed shake-up of hospital services in the county.
About 1,500 people have been reached through a series of pop-up displays.
Clinicians have also held question and answer sessions on Twitter and people have been able to leave their feedback on the two options in the consultation by completing a survey.
The board was told that throughout the consultation there have been concerns raised continuously around transport issues.
Future Fit:
Ms Vogler told members that a separate travel and transport group was looking at the impact the plans could have on ambulance services and issues surrounding public transport.
She said: “We are expecting the travel and transport activity and plan to come to the programme board to support the decision making. It’s one of the most critical elements of concern to the public.”
The options put forward by Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin Clinical Commissioning Groups involve separating emergency and planned care. Under the plans, there would be a single emergency centre for the county at either Royal Shrewsbury Hospital or Princess Royal Hospital in Telford, but health bosses have stressed it is ‘not a vote’.The consultation is due to run until September 11.
