Young farmers on song for charity

Carol singing efforts by Shropshire young farmers have raised thousands of pounds towards their chosen charities.

Over the festive period many Shropshire Young Farmers Club members donned their Christmas jumpers and ventured out into their local communities.

Clarrie Hocknell, who chairs Shropshire YFC, said: "Some of the 18 clubs in Shropshire raised huge amounts of money.

"Rushbury & Cardington sung loudly for all to hear over three nights which raised a wonderful £1,640 for the Air Ambulance and Hope House Children’s Hospice. Alberbury YFC had a joyous week of carol singing which raised £1,240 for Birmingham Children’s Hospital and Breast Cancer.

"I'd like to thank all of the clubs for taking part and the many families and local businesses who welcomed their members with open arms. Without them and the public generous donations the amounts raised would not have been possible."
