Free slurry testing
Free slurry testing will be on offer at a farm demonstration event being held on Tuesday. Shropshire and Mid Wales farmers are invited to take along a sample of their slurry for analysis at Managing Manures, a major event being held at Reaseheath College, Nantwich.
Slurry handling equipment can be seen in action, including arable and grassland injectors and umbilical equipment, and farmers will be able to discuss the pros and cons of the different systems with experts in the field.
The Milk Development Council and Environment Agency will also be offering their top tips for cost-effective manure management.
"Farmers can make massive savings if they manage their manure and slurry correctly and we are holding this special event so farmers can view different handling methods and compare the cost of each system," said Howard Hughes of event organisers, Berrys ABD Limited.
"With NVZ regulations due to be tightened, there's no room for hit-and-miss manure applications. Step out of line or fail to keep your records up to date and your single payment could take a serious knock."
Two sessions will be held, from 10.30am-12.30pm and from 1.30-3.30pm, with refreshments available. The event is free.
