Siblings cook up a success

Shropshire siblings who battled to save their family's farm took opposing sides to cook up a storm on a popular TV show. Ben and Charlotte Hollins, of Fordhall Farm, near Market Drayton, appeared on yesterday's Ready Steady Cook, alongside top chefs Brian Turner and Lesley Waters.

And it was Ben whose tasty dish of smoked trout pate, fish stew and scones and strawberries won the votes of the audience.

He said he would spend his £100 prize money on a new sheep or pig for the organic farm. The pair took along plenty of Shropshire produce to London, including steak and bacon from the farm and horseradish from High Ercall.

Charlotte said they had been determined to save the threatened farm with a £800,000 campaign to protect it from developers.

She said: "We knew the farm was too important to risk losing it."

Their endeavours to save the farm, set up in 1929, won praise from host Ainsley Harriott. He said: "It is amazing that this brother and sister have continued this family tradition. I think it is fascinating and really incredible what you are doing."
