The blaze broke out in a bedroom at a three-storey house in Pant, near Oswestry. Firefighters say the fire involved a blind in the window of the bedroom, which they believe was caused by the reflection of the sun.

People living in the house discovered the fire at about 10.30am yesterday and put the flames out before firefighters arrived. No-one was injured.

Neil Maguire, from Oswestry Fire Station, said: "The occupants were in at the time, but they managed to get out of the property. There was some fire and smoke damage to the dormer bedroom.

"The fire involved the dormer window in the bedroom and associated roof timbers.

"It started on the blind. Following an investigation we believe it was caused by the sun reflecting in the window. This is not the norm."
