English lesson superstars rewarded in Newport
Remote learning 'superstars' have been given tasty surprises by their teachers ahead of the half term break.
English teachers at Burton Borough School in Newport were able to spend their 'wellbeing hour' walking around the town to drop off cards and sacks of chocolate.
Head of English Christine Owen said: "It was lovely, they're isolated and their parents have been working hard to support them.
"It has been really hard for the kids to keep going these last few months.
"It really did make my day."
She said the children who received their rewards this week were shocked and pleasantly surprised to have their teachers turn up on their doorsteps for socially distanced chats.
Star students not living in Newport will get their prizes through the post to avoid unnecessary travel.
