Next week pupils at the Marches Secondary School and Sixth Form in Oswestry have the chance to do just that, albeit online.

The school is hold an online fundraising event based on a traditional village fete between February 8-12. Organisers say it will be jam-packed with activities, games and challenges for students to try with amazing prizes to be won, whilst raising money for charity.

This year the school is raising money for Ethos a charity providing adapted, short-term accommodation in Oswestry and advocacy support for people with life-changing physical disabilities. It also assists in the search for suitable, long-term homes and says it wants to help people learn to laugh, work and make new friends.

Associate Assistant Headteacher at The Marches School, Dan Pritchard Events said events would include live music, a pet show, a virtual treasure hunt and the anticipated teacher torment – Who will be the one to get splattered with a custard pie.

“We are looking forward to hosting this event and hope to see lots of our students take part. The support from our community has been amazing and we hope to raise lots of money for our charity whilst having lots of fun in the process.”

He said that no donation is too small and that donations of any size would get access to the Fete site – with all events and experiences free inside.

"Donations are being run through our ParentPay system as the best solution at this time of lockdown. If you do not have ParentPay and would like your child to join in the fun, or feel you could support the event in any way, please contact: Pritchard.d@mar.mmat.org.uk."
