Headlining the event at The Marches School, Oswestry, is Sir Robert Winson who pioneered fertility treatment and went onto to be a television presenter looking at all aspects of humans.

Executive head at the school Sarah Longville, said: "“I admire and respect Sir Robert Winston and what he has achieved though his life, improving the lives of young people by getting them to understand how the brain functions, to understand at a deeper level how important it is to help and support children’s development in the right ways.”

She said the Festival of Education was all about giving teachers and pupils the confidence and the toolkits, skills and strategy needed to further themselves personally and professionally.

"The speakers we have confirmed at this year’s event are world-class including Sir Robert Winston, Andy Buck and Will Ord and business leaders such as Robert Forrester from Vertu Motors.

"We are bringing national speakers together in one space in a one-day festival for teachers and young people to experience new thoughts, new ideas – to learn together rather than in isolation.”

The festival will also include children’s workshops such as Operating Theatre Live, Aardman Animations who brought Shaun the Sheep last year and 'dinosaurs' around the school all day.
