It comes after it was announced the college, which has campuses in Oswestry, Walford, Shipley near Bridgnorth and on the Herefordshire border, has formed a federation with Reaseheath College in Cheshire.

The colleges said that by working together they will offer an even wider and better educational experience to further and higher education students and apprentices.

A statement on behalf of North Shropshire College said: "Jackie was appointed in July 2014 and worked to lead the college and its staff through increasingly difficult times, as Government funding and policy has moved towards further education being delivered through larger, merged organisations, rather than small, local colleges.

"As announced recently, the college has federated with Reaseheath College to form a larger more sustainable organisation as part of the Government's Area Review Process.

"It is anticipated that, with an ongoing commitment to meet the challenges of the sector that this could lead to a formal merger, allowing North Shropshire College to continue to meet the needs of its learners, staff and employers, but also increasing its ability to operate effectively and efficiently within the current economic and political environments."

The college said it would like to thank Jackie for all her hard work and commitment, and to wish her every success with her future career in further education.

It added: "The board will work to ensure a smooth transition of leadership ensuring that there is no disruption to students and service delivery."
