Watch: Sneak peek at £10m revamp plan for university's Telford training campus
A new video has offered a sneak peek into the planned renovation of Telford's university campus, which will receive a £10 million investment to build an engineering training centre.
The video, released on the University of Wolverhampton's Twitter feed, reveals artist's impressions of how the development will look.
The scheme, which was given planning approval in December and is due to start next month, will allow the university to deliver new courses in automotive and aerospace engineering from flagship facilities at Telford Innovation Campus in Priorslee.
Deputy vice-chancellor Professor Ian Oakes said: "In the UK it's estimated that there will be a shortfall of about 200,000 qualified engineers by 2020 and the enhanced provision we are offering, coupled with our expanded facilities, demonstrates our commitment to working in partnership with the local LEP and businesses to provide the next generation of skilled engineers."
A new school office would also be accessed off an extended entrance foyer, which will provide space to showcase a Formula 1 car and display work.
New courses have been launched in Telford this academic year in the areas of motorsport engineering, chemical engineering and electronic and telecommunications engineering. It is expected to be followed by the introduction of food engineering and aerospace engineering in 2016/17.
The plans stated that refurbishments to the existing building would offer the opportunity to create a new school office, along with both board and pitch rooms.
The spaces are intended to be used by the school for meeting and developing pitches to sponsors and industry representatives and as showcase spaces for the school's activities.
A 'live project' workshop will be created and used as both a workshop and display or exhibition space for students and business partners.
