Protik Moulik of Roman Road, Shrewsbury, achieved the grades at the Westminster School in London.

The talented 16-year-old is no stranger to academic success, achieving A-level maths and music passes at the age of 12, as well as attaining an A* in GCSE Latin.

Protik's mother Soma Moulik said his family are "delighted" with his grades.

She said: "We are very proud of him, he's always been very good and gifted.

"He was always so bright from an early age, he's just got this brilliant natural gift. Obviously he has to study to make it happen but he doesn't have to work too hard. He has a good memory which also helps him."

Protik, who grew up in Shrewsbury, was awarded the place at Westminster School at the age of 13.

He was given just one of eight Queen's Scholarships that are handed out each year at the school, whose alumni include Andrew Lloyd-Webber, Helena Bonham Carter and Nick Clegg.

Protik attended Woodfields Infant School in Shrewsbury, St George's Junior School and Prestfelde School in Shrewsbury. He will go on to study A-levels in further maths, physics, Russian and Italian.

Protik's stand-out talents are in maths and music, according to his mother, and in his spare time he attends choir practice at Westminster Abbey three times a week.

Mrs Moulik said: "He's always been very good and his GCSE grades are no exception. Hopefully he will continue to do well for Shrewsbury."
