The children from Lawley Primary School in Telford were stunned when they saw Santa land at the school yesterday.

His visit was arranged by Shropshire-based sports company Crossbar Coaching together with RAF Shawbury.

Gavin Cowan, director of Crossbar Coaching, said his company had forged close links with Lawley Primary School.

Mr Cowan said: "It was an amazing experience for the kids and they really enjoyed it."

Mr Cowan, who used to play for both Shrewsbury Town and AFC Telford United, added he was pleased to see so many smiling faces.

Carol McQuiggin, headteacher, said the children were delighted to see their surprise guest and thanked Crossbar.

She added: "We were absolutely thrilled that Gavin was able to persuade Father Christmas to visit us and amazed by the form of transport. The Crossbar team are a big part of Lawley Primary School and this just goes to show how they will always go that extra mile to support the children."
