Prolific Oswestry thief who targeted shops in hometown was 'hit by bus at 50mph'

A prolific thief who stole meat, milk, wine and tobacco from several shops had his sentencing deferred after being hit by a bus at 50mph.

Colin Hume, aged 35, carried out a spate of thefts in Oswestry in May, June and July this year, and was due to be sentenced earlier this month.

However, Telford Magistrates Court was told he had been "hit by a bus at 50mph". He sustained several wounds including injuries to his kidneys.

On the previous date he was due to be sentenced he was still in hospital. His lawyer told the court it appears he has now been released from hospital.
