George Yeboah, 29, of Dun's Heath, Hollinswood, knew the girl was under age, Shrewsbury Crown Court was told.

On Friday, Judge Anthony Lowe sentenced Yeboah to 38 months, saying he would have to serve half the sentence before being released on licence. He was also placed on the sex offender register.

The defendant admitted engaging in sexual activity with a child.

Mr Darron Whitehead, prosecuting, said the offence happened in 2017.

Mr Robert Edwards for Yeboah said his client had in no way groomed the teenager and it had been an opportunist offence.

Judge Lowe said: "You knew the girl was underage and you have accepted that you were the adult and that what you were doing was wrong - but it was very, very wrong."
