Police carried out an operation in the Lawley area of Telford on Saturday after reports of concerns from residents.

As a result gates to Glendale Park and St John Church, where vehicles were parking, will now be locked during the evening.

A spokesman for West Mercia Police said: "Over the last few weeks Lawley and Overdale Safer Neighbourhood Team have been in communication with concerned residents and local councillors about suspicious vehicles attending the park in Glendale, Lawley Village shop and St John Church all in Lawley.

"The vehicles have been engaging in anti-social behaviour and suspected criminality.

"In response to these concerns on Saturday, March 30, Lawley and Overdale Safer Neighbourhood Team ran an intelligence led operation targeting these areas and dealing with any vehicles found.

"All persons encountered have been made aware that their behaviour is impacting on the local community and where offences have or are being committed then positive action will be taken against them.

"Glendale Park has a gate which was locked preventing vehicular access, the car park at St John Church has a gate and in future this will be locked of an evening preventing vehicles from congregating there.

"Lawley and Overdale Safer Neighbourhood Team will continue to monitor these areas as part of our patrol plan."
