Appeal for good Samaritan to come forward

Police are trying to trace a good Samaritan who went to the aid of a man involved in an altercation in Oswestry.

Officers said that a man was approached by another man outside the Boozed Up off-licence in Salop Road in the town at around 10.30pm on September 14.

He was verbally abused by the man who it is claimed was aggressive.

A 31-year-old man was arrested and recalled to prison due to breach of bail conditions.

Detective Constable Helen Bailey from West Mercia Police said enquiries had been carried out and it was believed that a 25 to 30-year-old man went to help the victim outside the off-licence having seen the altercation.

"We are keen to speak to him as he could be a key witness to our enquiries and have important information that could assist us."

She said the man is described as white, approximately 5'11" tall, of muscular build, with fair hair, and is believed to have been wearing light coloured clothing.

"We believe the man we are looking for may have witnessed the altercation between the two men and have important information that could assist us with our investigation. We are keen to speak to him and would urge him to get in contact."
