Bridgnorth Town Council had to fork out £180 for the repair of the zip wire and a swing was also covered in graffiti at the park on the Crown Meadow.

Resident Samantha Kinsey posted an image of the vandalised swing onto social media.

She said: "I took the picture Sunday but according to other park users it was vandalised on Friday.

"It was shocking to see and very disappointing for the children who couldn't use the swing.

"I saw many families having to pull their children away from it because it was such a state."

Bridgnorth town councillor James Gittins commented on the post saying that drug dealing at the Crown Meadow is "spiralling out of control".

He said: "It's not just anti-social behaviour on the Crown Meadow, the amount of drug dealing and taking that goes on there is spiralling out of control. If anyone see's anything please report it to 101. It's not just adults it's children of school age that are being sold this stuff."

The image of the vandalised swing on social media sparked outrage from residents, with people commenting "disgusting", "total lack of respect", and "pathetic".

John Morris commented: "There's always some who mess it up for everyone else." Another resident took it upon herself to clean the swing.

Zoe Thomas said: "I was really sad to see that the children's play area had been vandalised by such immature people. So instead of ranting we went down there and cleaned it as we go there often.

"We also collected some of the rubbish up too. I don't want to be praised, it was my first thought when I saw this post, the kids can now go and play."
