In February Jeffrey-Shaw, 28, was jailed for 26 weeks suspended for two years and ordered to pay £150 costs for dangerous driving, aggravated vehicle taking, driving whilst unfit and an unrelated charge of theft.

The case related to the theft of a BMW from Shrewsbury’s Quarry, where the victim had been helping to set up a wedding show. The car was fitted with a mobile phone tracking device that led officers to the group that stole it.

Jeffery-Shaw and two other people were discovered in the car last October as it travelled through Shropshire.

Mr Kevin Jones, prosecuting, told Shrewsbury Crown Court that the defendant failed to comply with the conditions of the sentence which included a three-month curfew, six alcohol treatment sessions and 20 rehabilitation days.

He said the defendant admitted the breach on March 26 and was jailed for 42 days. But when he was released on April 26 he failed to engage with probation staff.

He was recalled to prison for a further 14 days and was released on May 15.

Mr Jones told the court that following his latest release the defendant, of no fixed abode, was now cooperating with probation and was due to be referred to a rehabilitation project Willowdene Farm near Bridgnorth, to improve his work skills.

Judge Mr Peter Barrie agreed to revoke the previous community order and resentence Jeffery-Shaw, formerly of Bainbridge Crescent, Shrewsbury. He must now attend 30 rehabilitation days and was ordered to pay £70 costs.
