Official notice names administrators for collapsed Shropshire coach company Elcock Reisen

An 'appointment of administrators' notice placed on the London Gazette official website has named Steven John Currie, of Currie Young Limited, in Newcastle-under-Lyme, as the official administrator.

The coach company, which had its registered office at Birchfield House, Hortonwood 8, Telford, had administrators appointed on August 30. The official notice reads that if people want further details they should contact Evie Currie or Sophie Murcott on 01384 685 355 or email them at [email protected]/[email protected]

The coach firm, which had operated in the county for many years, announced the news on August 25.

Elcock Reisen had bases in Telford and Bridgnorth and phoned customers to break the bad news.

It thanked its customers for their loyalty and valued custom over their many years in business and confirmed all offices will close.

The news was met with an outpouring of sadness from county residents with fond memories of using the firm, which had been running for nearly 100 years.

The boss of the company reportedly said he hopes the majority of customers will get their money back.

Speaking to the BBC, the firm’s director Nick Prince said he was “hoping that the majority of people will get their money back, but it may take a few weeks”.

He said: “We did have a bond which should guarantee that most people will get their money back.”

School travel was also affected but new operators were found for 15 school bus routes to replace those left in limbo.

Councillor Ian Nellins, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member with responsibility for transport, thanked the new school transport operators for agreeing to run these services at such short notice, and thanked council officers for their hard work.

The administrators have been approached for more information.
