Mr Paterson was on hand to officially open the new facility at EvaStore, which stores thousands of documents on Artillery Business Park on August 31.

Mr Paterson met bosses to learn about the new opportunities the plant will offer, and how it is another sign of the investment being pumped into the local economy.

Gary Tait, head of sales and operations at EvaStore, said: "The new shredding machine will enable us to securely shred in excess of two tonnes of confidential paper per hour.

"This may be old records which are no longer legally required or documents which have been securely scanned and stored on our secure database.

"The shredded and baled paper as well as baled cardboard and plastic film created by the new machine then securely transported to recycling plants within the UK, ensuring as high a recycling rate for the business and its customers as possible."

Along with the new shredding facility, the company also offers document storage and scanning services to ensure control and fast retrieval of documents.

Mr Paterson added: "It is an amazing service storing millions of documents in 100,000 boxes on site, shredding, and able to locate, scan and email an individual document within one hour."
