The Telford firm is headed up by George Fenton, who has 16 years' experience in plant sales and hire, after hiring out his first digger as a teenager and starting a business at the age of 23.

He said: "H Plant is a new kind of plant hire and sales business. There are a number of ways we believe we offer a unique service in Telford and Shropshire. We want to simplify ways our customers can get the machinery they need, whether it's hiring or buying."

One of H Plant's unique offers is its ability to mix and match plant hire and sales, combined with a unique buy-back agreement for machines it sells.

It provides a wide range of plant machinery, for businesses and the general public – including diggers, rollers, dumpers, excavators, telehandlers and powered access machines.

Also available are machinery attachments, such as breakers, augers and materials-handling equipment, plus other tools, including pneumatic drills, cement mixers and compacting plates.

H Plant will provide its own trained, certificated operators, and can manage all aspects of groundwork projects, for customers.

George Fenton said: "Traditionally, companies either offer plant for hire or for sale. Because we do both, we can provide a more comprehensive service.

"For example, when machinery and equipment is needed for longer periods, we can offer to sell it to the customer, arrange finance, and then buy it back at an agreed price at the end of the project, I don't know of any other plant companies in Shropshire that do that."

The 31-year-old entrepreneur has an older, and wiser, head on his shoulders that belies his age. This comes from starting to buy and sell plant at the age of 15.

He had a plant and groundworks business in Wolverhampton at the age of 23 with operations in Telford, including exporting machinery.

H Plant is a joint venture with Steve Holding, managing director of the SP Holding Group. The H Plant depot is on a stand-alone site a mile from SP Holding's HQ.

George Fenton said: "By understanding the plant industry inside out, and being able to provide an end-to-end service, from providing the machines to carrying out the work, we believe H Plant will be a very competitive.

"Our approach will particularly benefit people operating long-term contracts and self-builders. In both these cases, we'd expect to make their budgets stretch further."

Also, the company's link with the SP Holding Group means customers have access to its full range of support services, including specialist drainage services, logistics, vehicle hire and metals fabrication.

H Plant is open six days a week, Monday to Saturday, to both trade and public, accepts card payments from all customers and provides an in-house, cost-effective transport service.

George Fenton said: "We are finding our customers like the way we have simplified plant hire and sales.

They find they can get jobs done faster at less cost and less hassle. That's what H Plant aims to deliver."
