A Shrewsbury woman has swapped her business suit for a swimming costume to teach babies to swim in Shrewsbury.

Heidi Hunter-Cope worked for 14 years as a psychologist but is now set to teach babies to be confident in water in Shropshire and the Black Country.

Water Babies has taught youngsters all over the world to swim.

The 39-year-old has now taken over the franchise in Shrewsbury and will lead sessions designed to make the most of babies' natural affinity with water.

The classes teach confidence and safety techniques and enable babies to swim underwater as well as on the surface.

Mrs Hunter-Cope was introduced to the concept when she took her own children to classes in Bristol.

She said: "I absolutely loved them, they were the highlight of our week and made what was already a very special time perfect."

She said prior to motherhood she had a demanding career as a business psychologist. And when the time came to return to the day job she decided to make a career switch and retrained as a swimming instructor in order to start her own classes.

Sessions run in Shrewsbury, Oswestry and Telford from November 26. For more information telephone (01743) 491124.
