Happy like Pigs in Clover

Like many of us, Steve and Gwen Howell fancied running their own business. And now they're as happy as Pigs in Clover.

Like many of us, Steve and Gwen Howell fancied running their own business.

But unlike many of us, the estate agents actually went ahead and did it - and as a result they're really bringing home the bacon.

For the couple, of Ford near Shrewsbury, are raising rare breed saddleback pigs, and last month they showed off their efforts for the first time at the West Mid Show.

"We've got 60 pigs," says Gwen of the family business, which they fit in around estate agency work. "It's good to have some way of keeping occupied when you're not selling houses."

The business is a family concern, and our video shows Steve and Gwen's daughters, Alex, 8, and Tara, 14, displaying some of the pigs at the West Mid. They did well and returned home with rosettes.

"They've taken to it like ducks to water," says Gwen.
