Busch's vacuum pumps and low pressure blower products are manufactured in Germany, the USA and Switzerland, with bespoke vacuum pump systems designed and built at its Hortonwood facility.

The company's products are used in a wide range of industries including food manufacture and packaging, printing, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, furnaces and metals as well as in gas and oil production.

Last year (2006) Busch acquired Congleton-based liquid ring pump manufacturer Graham Vacuum Technology Ltd which has been rebranded Busch GVT Ltd.

The acquisition is part of the company's strategy to grow capabilities in liquid ring technology.

Busch managing director Ian Graves said: "Following the acquisition and integration of Busch GVT, we are now able to offer market-leading products in liquid ring technology to our existing customers, who now have access to a wider range of liquid ring pumps and likewise, we're able to offer users of GVT products the benefit of our comprehensive service facilities worldwide."

When Ian took the helm at Busch in the summer of 2004, he implemented a step change in Busch's capabilities and a widening of activities. He strengthened the customer focus with dedicated strategies for internal processes, people development and new IT systems.

This customer-focused orientation has now spread right through the organisation and embedded itself in the very culture of the UK company.

Ian says: "We've gone from a very reactive situation to one where we are listening to our customers and providing them with solutions that directly address their requirements."

Busch's Telford headquarters is home to the operational and marketing team as well as a workshop in which dedicated service engineers carry out repairs and restoration work.
