Knighton’s clerk given the authority to buy supplies for the smooth running of the council upto £500
Knighton’s clerk has been given the authority to buy supplies for the smooth running of the council upto £500
Lorian Craggs Alferoff said at the moment if she needs to buy toilet rolls for the public toilets, stationery for the office or supplies for the civic centre she needs to obtain the signature of a committee chairman or the mayor to sanction it.
She told members at a recent meeting that if she had the delegated authority to spend up to £500 on these supplies, it would no longer hold up something that could be a relatively smooth process.
Councillor Tom Taylor said members would not refuse to give her permission to buy such supplies.
But Ms Craggs Alferoff said she would still need to report any such purchases to the following town council meeting anyway, so the council would still know about expenditure made and be able to keep an eye on spending.
Members agreed to give her the delegated authority to spend up to £500 on supplies for the council’s operations.
