177 homes without electricity after fallen power cable sparks blaze in Shrewsbury
A fallen power cable disrupted electricity supply to 177 properties in Shrewsbury this morning - and 10 customers are still without power.
The incident happened in Shrewsbury at 9:30am today (Tuesday, May 6).
A spokesperson for National Grid Electricity Distribution said the fault affected electricity supplies to 177 properties but power has been restored to most of the customers.
Only 10 are currently without power as engineers work to fix the issue as soon as possible.

The full statement, released to the Shropshire Star, said: “A fault on our overhead network was reported shortly after 9.30am which affected electricity supplies to 177 properties.
“Power has since been restored to all but 10 customers and our engineers are working to reconnect them as quickly as possible.
“We’d like to thank customers for their patience.”
The fallen cable had caused an open fire in Leaton, Bomere Heath, Shrewsbury.
Firefighters dispatched from Shrewsbury with the incident support unit.
Crews used buckets of water and knapsacks to contain the fire.
