Bin lorry fire in Telford - firefighters on the scene

A bin lorry caught fire in Telford this morning, prompting a call to the fire brigade.

The incident happened in Moor Road, Dawley, shortly before noon. 

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service confirmed it was a “small fire” which was out before crews arrived on the scene.

A spokeswoman said: “At 11.48am on Friday, February 14, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting a fire classified as ‘HGV fire’ in Telford.

“Small fire in rear of recycling lorry - out on arrival, inspection only.”

Two fire engines were sent to the scene from Telford Central station. An operations officer was in attendance.
