At Builth Wells, a service took place at St Mary’s Church where the service was led by the Reverend Mark Beatson assisted by Rev Janet Day. The last post was played by Ashley Clare and one of the readings was by chairman of the Builth Wells branch of the Royal British Legion, Kevin Herbert.

The role of honour was read by Adam Johnstone and Doe Herbert. The parade then marched to the war memorial where there was an act of remembrance, the two minute silence was observed and wreaths were laid.

There were about 35 wreaths from all of the armed services, Builth Wells Town Council, Builth Rotary Club, Probus, the Freemasons, the Senedd, the male and female choirs, primary and high schools, the Royal Welsh Agricultural Society, local sports clubs and the heritage society.

Llandrindod Wells marked the poignant occasion with a parade of about 200 people and hundreds more observing the service.

The parade was led by Llandrindod Wells Silver Band and escorted by two drummers from the Air Training Corps.

At the war memorial, the service was led by Father Andrew Tweed and the exhortation was recited by Royal British Legion branch chairman Hamish Stonebridge. The Kohima was read by Jeff Thomas. About 42 wreaths were laid by various organisations and individuals.

The Royal British Legion standard bearer was Mike Phillips and the branch wreath was laid by Brian Jones, branch President. A second wreath was laid for those who have died in service since World War two by Dave Hurley, the poppy appeal organiser.

The silver band played hymns and the Last Post and they gave a short concert after the service. An auction, raffle and bingo at the RBL Club afterwards raised over £1,000 for the poppy appeal.

A Remembrance Service for the Ithon Valley was held at St Padarn’s Church at Crossgates later in the day. The service was taken by the Rev Meinir Ronicle.

Names of the fallen were read by Claire Lewis and wreaths were laid on behalf of the Royal British Legion by Rachael and Emmie Barlow , Llanbadarn Fawr Community Council, Crossgates School and St Padarn’s Church.

The Standard Bearer was Hamish Stonebridge The Exhortation was read by Vanessa Garwood and Flight Sergeant Mark Lumb, officer in the Llandrindod detachment of the ATC who also recited the Kohima Epitaph.
