Hazard-ous debut for cartoonist Paul
A cartoonist introduces readers to Matt Hazard, an ordinary guy trying not to be defined by his job, in his debut published collection.
Paul Kielty has been one of the contributors to the Painting by Pixels exhibition run at The Qube gallery in Oswestry, which has showcased new digital art, encompassing both figurative and abstract work, all created on android tablets. The exhibition began on August 3 and runs to September 3.
Kielty's creation Matt Hazard features in a book of cartoons called "The Return of the Naive," published by Fair Acre Press (www.fairacrepress.co.uk), which is based near Oswestry. It costs £8.99.
Kielty, who lives in Wolverhampton, has been running digital art workshops at Designs in Mind in Oswestry and Derwen College at Gobowen.
He says he followed every Irishman's dream – "to leave their beloved country" – after being offered an animation degree at the University of Wolverhampton.
He says he has dabbled in stand up comedy, singer-songwriting, being an MC, and drawing and painting.
For the past two years he has been commissioned by Welshpool Poetry Festival to create a cartoon for their children’s poetry competition.
