Shropshire father-of-four died on holiday in Spain
A Shropshire father-of-four was found dead by a friend in his hotel room at a Spanish resort, an inquest heard.
Robin Eric Bosworth died while he was visiting Marbella to finalise a deal to buy a holiday home.
The 46-year-old had flown out on his own and was staying at the H10 Andalucía Plaza, where he was found dead on May 6 last year.
The inquest held at Shirehall in Shrewsbury yesterday heard how Mr Bosworth, of Office Lane near Ludlow, had been drinking with friend Austin O'Donoghue, who had flown out to the resort on May 4. The inquest also heard Mr Bosworth had taken heroin before his death.
The hearing was told the pair went to local bars and were drinking "quadruple measures of rum" before they visited a casino.
They spoke to other revellers, but in a statement read out by coroner's officer Emma Wilson, Mr O'Donoghue said he
did not remember seeing his friend, who worked as builder, take or buy any drugs.
Mrs Wilson, reading out a statement on behalf of the coroner's office, said: "Mr O'Donoghue flew out to Marbella on May 4 and he was sharing a room with Mr Bosworth, who had flown out a several days before.
"Mr O'Donoghue struggles to remember how his friend got the heroin or when he took the drugs, but he does remember leaving the casino at about 4am on May 5.
"The pair stayed in bed most of the day.
"At midnight Mr O'Donoghue woke up to go to the toilet and noticed Mr Bosworth was no longer snoring.
"When he checked on his friend he was cold and not responding.
"He called the Spanish police who then carried out an investigation."
Shropshire coroner John Ellery concluded that Mr Bosworth's died on May 5 and that his death was drug related.
He said: "The use of heroin is also supported by a GP and he had a history of heroin use."
