Shropshire flood alerts issued as heavy rain forecast

Flood alerts have been issued in Shropshire ahead of heavy rain forecast for tonight.

The Environment Agency has issued an alert for the Upper Teme in Leintwardine, Onibury and Ludlow on the River Corve as river levels are expected to peak overnight.

The flood alerts mean that flooding is possible and people should be prepared.

At 4pm today, at the River Corve the Ludlow Gauge was reading 1.17 metres and rising with a peak level of between two and two and a half metres is expected to occur during the night.

An alert has also been put in place for Ledwyche Brook and River Rea near Ludlow.

A peak level of between 1.2 and 1.6 metres is expected overnight at Newnham Bridge and a peak level of between 1.2 and 1.7 metres at Burford.
