Eight police officers smashed their way into a flat in Craven Arms in a dawn raid. Cannabis was found in the kitchen.

The raid happened shortly before 7am yesterday at a South Shropshire Housing Association flat in Station Crescent. The occupants of the flat, a 21-year-old man and an 18-year-old woman, were arrested.

The woman admitted the drugs belonged to her.

Sergeant Adrian Woolley, speaking for West Mercia Police's south Shropshire safer neighbourhood team, said : "We conducted a warrant under the misuse of drugs act following information passed to us, and cannabis was found in the kitchen of the flat.

"A dawn raid was conducted at about 6.55am with four police officers and four PSCOs.

"The safer neighbourhood team attended along with a housing officer.

"The door was knocked down with one blast of the door opener.

"The two were arrested and later dealt with at Church Stretton Police Station."

He said the woman was issued with a caution for possession of a class B drug while her partner was not charged.

But he said both may face further repercussions as South Shropshire Housing Association takes drug use or possession on their property seriously.

Sergeant Woolley said: "Drugs possession is something which affects residents tenancy, and this will be reviewed by housing officers.

"The tenancy actually belongs to the boyfriend, but the fact that drug possession is happening inside his residence means he will be viewed as jointly responsible."
