Countrywide store to join traders on Oswestry business park creating 20 jobs
A rural supplies shop will form the latest part of a major development in Shropshire, creating almost 20 jobs.
Planning permission has been granted for a Countrywide store on the Oswestry Gateway business park, on the eastern edge of the town.
The Countrywide store, which will be built next to KFC, is expected to create 17 jobs, 12 full-time and five part-time, and will form the third phase of the development alongside an OK Diner, which was given planning permission last month.
The development already has a KFC, Starbucks, a Table Table public house and a Premier Inn hotel.
A spokesman for J Ross Developments Ltd said the development of the Countryside and OK Diner sites will provide funding to allow the rest of the site to be developed.
He added: "The proposed development will generate 17 new jobs, both full and part-time, and will lead to further employment generation in the near future through the development of the remaining employment land within the site."
A spokeswoman for Countrywide Stores said: "Agriculture and retail are not easy industries to be in, but we're working towards a three-year plan to move into areas where we don't already have a presence."
The first phase of the £3.36million development began in 2008.
