Alert after two boys approached by man in Market Drayton

Two boys were approached by a "verbally abusive" man who asked to play football with them and to look in one of their bags.

Police are appealing for information about the man who approached the boys in the park close to Dalelands Estate in Market Drayton on Monday.

Constable Mick Sturland said: "At about 4.10pm, police took a call to say two boys, aged eight and 11 years old, had been approached by a strange male.

"He asked to look in one boy's bag and when the lad said no, was verbally abusive to him. He then approached the other boy and asked for his football and to play a game with him. They both ran home."

The man is white with a brown beard and moustache, aged in his 20s and was wearing black and white tracksuit bottoms and coat and a white or cream woolly hat.
