Major Market Drayton roadworks starting
Major roadworks which are expected to cause weeks of disruption for motorists in a town were starting today.
The resurfacing work in Market Drayton, which will take place between the A529 Spoonley Road junction and the A53 roundabout, is scheduled to finish by November 22.
The road will be closed 24 hours a day during the work, with access only to highways staff, residents, businesses, pedestrians, dismounted cyclists and horseriders as well as emergency service vehicles. A signed diversion route will be in place.
Two other essential road resurfacing schemes have been timed to happen at the same time to prevent further disruption.
High Street in Market Drayton will be closed on Thursday until October 27, with a temporary signed diversion 24 hours a day.
Shropshire Street in Market Drayton will also be closed on October 29 until November 3.
