Shropshire taxi firm inundated with applications
A taxi firm looking to recruit new drivers has postponed an open day after being inundated with applicants.
Go Carz, which is based in Shropshire, is looking for an extra 400 drivers across its offices in Shrewsbury, Telford, Wolverhampton and Walsall.
The company is holding a number of open days to provide more information about the jobs, and managers said they were really pleased with the response at the first event in mid-August.
Cindy Wilday, sales and marketing director at Go Carz, said they had received so many applications in Walsall that the next open day, planned in Telford on September 14, was being re-arranged.
"Licensing a new driver is quite an involved process, and we support our drivers every step of the way, so it does sometimes take a while to sort all of the details out.
"However, we are still looking for more drivers in Telford and Shrewsbury, so anyone interested is welcome to get in touch – for instance if a driver already has a licence there's no reason why they can't start working with us very quickly. Our next open day in Shropshire is in Shrewsbury at the Lord Hill Hotel on October 7.
