Singer songwriter Chesney Hawkes, who shot to fame with his chart-topping anthem "The One and Only", proved he's no one hit wonder, playing a gig at the Henry Tudor House last night, with a second show at the same venue taking place tonight.

Now 43, but looking not a day older than when he burst onto the scene in 1991, Chesney has never stopped touring since then.

But speaking to the Shropshire Star last night, he admitted he had never been in such an historic dressing room. "This is incredible," he said. "Henry Tudor actually stayed in this room for two nights, how amazing is that?

"This venue is amazing. Full of history and so friendly and professional. I love doing these smaller venues. Yes it's fun going to a huge festival, bouncing on stage and singing 'that song', but these gigs give me the chance to show people what I am doing now and sharing the music that I love.

"It's great to be sold out for the two nights and while there will be people who are die-hard fans, there will also be people new to my music."

While at the Henry Tudor House, Chesney, who recently reached the semi-finals of Celebrity MasterChef, had the chance to swap recipes with Masterchef The Professionals contestant, Chris Goode, executive chef at the venue.

"I didn't really cook until I went on Masterchef, now I cook all the time," he said.

"My wife, Kristina, loves the fact that I am always in the kitchen. I have also stayed in touch with my fellow contestants."
