Mr Cameron will visit the agricultural show, which will take place between July 20 and 23 in Llanelwedd, Builth Wells, for the second consecutive year.

A spokesman for the Royal Welsh show said organisers were delighted by the news from Westminster, but added they were yet to get confirmation from the Prime Minister himself.

"Mr Cameron mentioned during the election campaign that he would like to return to the show," the spokesman said.

"Then during Prime Minister's Questions he repeated this so we are extremely pleased that the visit is still high on his agenda.

"The show is a great place to visit and a good political platform to be seen at." It's all about being at the right place at the right time so he is really welcome and we would also welcome any other politicians or VIPs who would like to attend the event. We are delighted that people want to visit the Royal Welsh Show."
