The Blue Boar, in Mill Street, Ludlow, was shut at the end of December following a licence review.

Now it is to open under new management to coincide with the launch of the town's summer Fringe Festival on June 11.

New owner Adam Tutt said he hoped it would be a fresh start.

The Blue Boar has been taken over by the team behind the well-established Chang Thai Bar and Restaurant in Ludlow, headed by Mr Tutt, and has undergone a re-fit in recent months.

Mr Tutt said he wanted the pub to become a venue for community events as well as a place to drink, and would be hosting a number of attractions during the festival.

He added: "We have even got a new boar's head to replace the old one which suffered during last year's issues."

Chef Stuart McRobbie will oversee in the kitchen, after a stint as a catering teacher.

An application has been submitted for listed building consent to update the signage outside the pub.

The pub be officially reopened by Mayor of Ludlow, Paul Draper, at 7.30pm on June 11, followed by an invitation-only VIP launch for the Ludlow Fringe Festival in the upstairs sitting room.

The Blue Boar will fully open its doors to the public on June 13.

Police suspended the licence of the venue's previous designated premises supervisor Alan Ebbon on November 27.

A report to Shropshire Council's Licensing Act sub-committee revealed details of anti-social behaviour at the pub on a number of occasions during October.

They included a serious wounding outside the pub where it was believed a glass from the venue was used as a weapon, and another occasion when a customer was punched and fell backwards, fracturing his skull.
