Ludlow mother's life 'ruined' by hit-and-run crash
A young Ludlow mum who was knocked down by a car late at night has revealed how the crash has ruined her life.
Kelly Lysy, 23, was about to return home to her children when she was knocked down as she crossed the road outside the Bull Hotel in Corve Street, Ludlow.
Today she spoke out about the crash that ruined her life and left her unable to walk for more than three months.
Kelly is now unable to leave the house on her own, can only get around on crutches and suffers with depression and anxiety.
It has now been over six months since she was hit by a blue MG ZR on October 11, just after midnight.
She was rushed to hospital in Hereford with a broken pelvis, two hip fractures, internal bleeding, injuries to the knee and a serious head injury.
Kelly had spent the evening watching her friend's son in a boxing tournament and was about to nip into the Bull Hotel for a drink before heading home to Sandpits Close.
Moments before she was hit, the car had collided with a parked car nearby.
Kelly spent three days in hospital before she was moved to intensive care at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham where she stayed for more than a month.
She said: "I remember the car coming right at me and then I was hit and I don't remember what happened.
"It's ruined my life and I have completely lost my independence. It's been so tough on me, my family and it completely ruined our Christmas."
Kelly said that without the support of her family, especially her mother and sister, she would have been lost.
Her mother Alex Banner stopped working to look after her daughter and her grandchildren, Alexa, six, and Tristan, aged five.
Kelly added: "My children wouldn't come near me after it happened, they didn't know what to think and didn't want to hurt me.
"I feel let down because I haven't had much communication from the police about what is happening.
"A few weeks after this happened my dad passed away and I am now still trying to deal with what has happened.
"I could have died – what if it had been a child or an elderly person? These are the thoughts that keep going through my head."
Police arrested and bailed three men from the Birmingham area following the smash.
