The owners of a 16th century Grade II-listed bed and breakfast in Shropshire are celebrating after winning on Channel Four's 'Three In A Bed' programme.

The show features B&B owners who take turns staying with one another and then pay what they consider a fair price for their stay.

At the end of the programme one of them is declared the winner.

Fifi Sharplin and her partner Tim Bradburn, who run The Old House B&B in Hilton near Bridgnorth, featured on the show last Sunday and said they were surprised to win.

Mrs Sharplin said: "Right up until they announced the winner we had no idea it would be us."

The couple were invited to take part in the show in May 2014, but were initially sceptical about going on television, until a friend persuaded them to give it a go.

Mrs Sharplin admitted that when they knew they had been accepted by the show, her first thought was 'what have we let ourselves in for?'

She said: "We don't watch reality TV shows and were a little worried about appearing in one.

"It was a little bit out of our comfort zone, but we decided to treat it like an adventure and see what happened."

Filming for the show took place in August 2014. The couple had been sent an itinerary of the show, but weren't told where they would be going.

Mr Bradburn said that they drove to their first destination, in Somerset, with a cameraman in the car.

He said: "We wore radio microphones on that trip and wore them every day, from when we woke up until we went to bed.

"Initially you think very carefully about what you say, but soon forget you are wearing them, but It seems we didn't say anything too outspoken."

The other B&B owners on the show were Daisy, who runs the Daisy Angel Healing Centre in Glastonbury, and Roo and Gerry, who run the Chocolate Boutique Hotel in Bournemouth.

Mrs Sharplin, who has run the Old House B&B since 2002, said: "We liked our fellow competitors from the start and have become good friends with Roo and Gerry

"We all got on really well and had a great time making the programme - it felt like we were laughing and joking all the time."

"I think our group was an interesting mix, with Daisy being into vortex healing and Gerry being a chocolatier."

The format of the show calls for each B&B owner to put up the others for one night, and during their stay organise an evening meal, breakfast and an activity.

Mrs Sharplin added: "We took everyone for a wonderful evening meal at The Inn at Shipley and for the activity we booked the Severn Valley Railway Footplate Experience, where we each got to drive a steam train."
