A health meeting scheduled to take place today was cancelled amid fears of heavy snowfall.

Members of Montgomeryshire Community Health Council were due to meet at the Oriel Davies Gallery, in Newtown, at 2pm.

But the meeting was cancelled last night.

The Met Office put Shropshire on a Yellow '"be prepared" warning for ice and snow today which will last through until Friday evening.

Meanwhile Manchester Airport was closed due to the snow and one Shropshire man got in touch with us to say he was stuck at the airport.

Ian Anderson, of Randlay in Telford, said a flight with his business colleagues on, who he was due to collect at 9am this morning, never arrived and their journey from Denmark was diverted to Leeds.

He is currently waiting for them to arrive via car.

He said: "It has caused a lot of disruption but it's just one of those things."

Shropshire Council said waste collections have been disrupted and said gritters would be out in force at various locations tonight.
